The Humphrey Perkins Science team is made up of highly qualified, innovative and enthusiastic teachers who endeavour to engage, challenge and empower our pupils. We have high expectations of every single pupil and believe that by encouraging world class learning that there is no ceiling to success.

Our well-equipped laboratory classrooms allow Science to be taught in a wide range of different ways which are designed to capture the imagination of the pupils. Lessons are tailored specifically to allow pupils to feel safe and motivated whilst also giving them the opportunity to achieve and excel.

We strive to spark our pupils curiosity in the world around them so that they can understand the scientific implications that impact on their own lives. We aim to build understanding and creativity as well as allowing pupils the freedom to grow and develop independently.

Lower school pupils study topics that incorporate aspects of all three individual Sciences in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Throughout Year 7 pupils will also have the opportunity to take part in the exciting Mars Rover project that pupils designed to enhance their personal learning and thinking skills. Classes are divided into smaller groups that design, build and test rockets, landing systems and Rover vehicles. This is made even more stimulating now that all Year 7 pupils have their own personal iPads.

The Science department is eagerly looking forward to building on the continued outstanding results that our pupils achieve in Keystage 3 each year as the school completes the transition to becoming a 11-16 school that offers a wide range of GCSE and BTEC courses for KS4.
