Inspiring Visit from Colin Chambers

1st December 2017

'It always seems impossible until it’s done.' - Nelson Mandela

Humphrey Perkins had the huge honour of Reverend Colin Chambers, minister to Nelson Mandela, visiting the school. Colin spoke at our Year 11 Leavers Celebration Evening, focussing on never giving up and his experiences of working with this great leader.

In school our pupils had the opportunity of extra assemblies, where Colin described prison life – Nelson Mandela slept on a mat for 13 years and only had cold sea water to wash in for example – as well as the bigger messages of forgiveness and aspiration. Our pupils asked in depth questions regarding life at the prison and showed a keen interest in this modern day history.

Humphrey Perkins would like to say a huge thank you to Colin for his work with our young people. An inspirational opportunity for them all.
