Humphrey Perkins were invited along with Loughborough Grammar school to a round robin tournament at Welbeck College in Woodhouse Eaves on Wednesday 8th March. Both Welbeck and Loughborough Grammar came with very strong squads who were all in Year 12 or 13 so our young team may have felt intimidated by the older boys that they were about to face, however was not the case. In the first game against the Grammar school a tight and predominately one sided game saw Loughborough thwarted again and again by our outstanding goal keeper Jaimin Metcalf, all posts and the crossbar of the goal and the resolute Humphreys defence. In the last minute an unlucky deflection lead to the Grammar school winning one nil.

The second game saw Humphrey Perkins find a second wind and dominate extensive periods of the game with two goals scored from short corners by George Godwin and another for George from open play. Again and again we attacked them down the right wing with James Godwin spinning and passing with ease players 4 years his senior. The final score was 3:1 to Humphrey Perkins school and a new found respect from the senior cadets at Welbeck for the ability of our young men.
