Athletics: James Wardle secures clean sweep at Leicestershire Schools Cross-Country Championships

James Wardle secured clean sweep at Leicestershire secondary schools cross-country championships. More than 250 young athletes finished the Leicestershire & Rutland secondary school cross-country season in style at the County Championships.

The county's most aspiring runners battled the mud at Ratcliffe College as they looked to book their place in the team for the English Schools Championships in March.

James Wardle marked the end to a remarkable first season by claiming the county championship title, having won all five of the year seven boys league races this season.

He was the only athlete to have a clean sweep in all races across all of the age groups this year. Oakham School took the team title.
