Leicestershire & Rutland Schools Cross Country Championship Saturday 23 January 2016

Year 7 Girls - Charlotte Graham - 38th

Year 7 Boys - James Wardle - 1st    Nathan Geary - 30th      Sam Cundy - 32nd

Junior Boys Years 8 and 9 - Luke Nuttall - 2nd

Inter Girls Years 10 and 11 - Maddie Freeman - 9th

The final race of the season drew a large field and crowd to Ratcliffe College on Saturday 23rd January. James Wardle went into the race having won the League competition with 1st place in every race he entered. The course was tough and challenging after several weeks of poor weather making it boggy under foot. James worked hard in the first part of the race to stretch the field out and kept the pace high throughout opening up a large gap running into the finish to win again. He was joined in the race by Sam and Nathan who ran well to come in the top 40 in a race containing over 50 entrants. In the Junior boys race Luke Nuttall was our only racer but ran strongly to finish 2nd overall and will be available for selection for the English Schools championship in March. Maddie Freeman in her final race for Humphreys was in 8th place right up to the middle of the second lap when she lost her shoe and found the conditions tough.

Well done to all those who have represented the school in Cross Country this season and to the parents who support week in, week out. Without their time and effort on cold and wet Saturday mornings Humphrey Perkins Cross Country team would not be able to compete.
